Couples Therapy
with Emily Fiedtkou, LMFT
I help couples reconnect with why they chose each other.
Maybe one of you shuts down or avoids harder conversations, while the other is anxious and ready for connection. Maybe trust feels fragile, intimacy distant, or your partnership feels like it's stuck in recurring patterns you don’t want anymore.
You’re in the right place if you want couples therapy without the fluff—where you can be heard by your partner and feel like your conversations actually create change.
Getting unstuck
Struggling with intimacy
Different attachment styles
Broken trust
Addressing unspoken feelings
Couples Come To Me For
Having the difficult conversations
Not knowing how to change
Wanting to feel on the same team
Being confident again in their futures
Couples therapy with me is two people addressing the built up hurts, learning how to effectively communicate, and moving forward together with confidence.
“Couples therapy isn’t
just venting.
It’s learning how to shift patterns and see your relationship in a whole new light.”
How Couples Therapy With Me Works
I combine relational methods with structure and empathy. I help you both show up,
express what matters, and reconnect—not fix or blame each other. We’ll use:
-
A structured, research-based approach focused on communication, conflict resolution, and relationship repair.
It helps couples build trust, improve how they listen to each other, and navigate disagreements with more respect and clarity. -
A model that focuses on helping couples understand and respond to each other's emotional needs.
It deepens emotional connection, rebuilds safety, and helps partners feel more secure and supported in the relationship. -
Originally designed to help with emotion regulation, DBT provides tools for managing distress and increasing mindfulness.
In couples therapy, it helps both partners stay grounded during conflict, avoid escalation, and respond instead of react.
They no longer avoid the hard conversations
Friendship feels real again
More intimacy
Less guessing, more understanding
Confidence in each other + their roles
Time together is fun again
They know how to support each other
After therapy with me, couples say:
About Me
Hi, I’m Emily Fiedtkou.
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I love relationships because they are full of possibilities. I believe relationships thrive when there’s space for both togetherness and individuality.
In therapy, I skip vague advice, lean into what matters most to you, and help you feel more connected, grounded, and confident in your partnership.
Outside of therapy, I experiment with New York Times cooking recipes, exploring the outdoors with my husband and our mini Bernedoodles, or hitting a tennis court.
